UoN Plants 7000 trees in Celebration of 50 years

The University of Nairobi in partnership with the Equity Group Foundation and the Kenya Forest Service facilitated a community tree planting exercise at the University of Nairobi’s Upper Kabete Campus on Tuesday May 18th, 2021.

Equity Group Foundation donated about 7,000 trees which were planted in identified grounds at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Services and the Wangari Maathai Institute. In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, tree planting is now viewed as a necessary exercise to promote the production of oxygen.

Prof. Margaret Hutchinson is the New DVCFPD

Prof. Margaret Hutchinson is the new Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance Planning and Development for the next 6 months. She is from the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. 

Prof. Enos Njeru who has been the Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences has been appointed as the new Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Human Resource and Administration for the next 6 months. 

Completed Confucius Institute Handed Over to UoN

The new Confucius Institute Building located on Arboretum Drive, has officially been handed over to the University of Nairobi. The ceremony was presided over by the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Prof. George Magoha, who praised the good relationships between Beijing and Nairobi.

Constructed at a cost of 1.4Billion shillings, the new Confucius Building hosts a number of lecture halls, conference facilities, accommodation facilities, staff offices and Chinese Language research offices and language libraries.

Prof. Isaac Mbeche, DVCFPD Retires

Prof. Isaac Meroka Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance Planning and Development) and Professor of Management Science at the School of Business has retired with effect from March 21, 2020.  Consequently, Prof. Mbeche, having left University service through retirement, automatically ceased being the Deputy Vice Chancellor (FPD).  It follows, therefore, that the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor (FPD) is now vacant.

How to acquire telkom bundles for online learning

During the covid19 pandemic, the University has entered into an agreement with Telkom Kenya and made a special arrangement to facilitate all UoN students with data bundles to access online learning platforms. 

 

Here is a step by step procedure of how a student can access the bundles. 

1. Students to register their intent for facilitation of data bundles by updating their profile in the SMIS portal indicating their preferred Telkom outlet.

2. Requests received at ICT Centre are processed and forwarded to respective colleges for review and approval.
