Prof. Isaac Mbeche, DVCFPD Retires

Prof. Isaac Meroka Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance Planning and Development) and Professor of Management Science at the School of Business has retired with effect from March 21, 2020.  Consequently, Prof. Mbeche, having left University service through retirement, automatically ceased being the Deputy Vice Chancellor (FPD).  It follows, therefore, that the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor (FPD) is now vacant.

How to acquire telkom bundles for online learning

During the covid19 pandemic, the University has entered into an agreement with Telkom Kenya and made a special arrangement to facilitate all UoN students with data bundles to access online learning platforms. 

 

Here is a step by step procedure of how a student can access the bundles. 

1. Students to register their intent for facilitation of data bundles by updating their profile in the SMIS portal indicating their preferred Telkom outlet.

2. Requests received at ICT Centre are processed and forwarded to respective colleges for review and approval.

UoN VC Meets with Webchampions

The Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Mbeche met with all the University’s Web Champions on Friday December 6, 2019 at the Central Catering Unit.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Mbeche, noted that the team has been faithfully executing its mandate and he urged the team to put more effort in being the champions of their schools and departments to enhance the University’s visibility.

New Development on the University Website

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has made new developments on its system of websites bringing out more aesthetics and a more user-friendly platform. The websites have moved to Drupal 8, which is a better platform than the previous one.

The newly redesigned sites are already live and will be launched by UoN management at a later date.

NIW 2019 Unveils 6 Start-ups from Nairobi Innovation Challenge

The Nairobi Innovation Week through its ‘Nairobi Innovation Challenge’ programme has unveiled the 6 Kenya’s Most Promising Startups of 2019.

The startups participated in the Nairobi Innovation Challenge as part of the top 30 startups who pitched to a panel of judges. Due diligence was conducted to determine and ascertain the ingenuity of the top 6 startups. The startups are in the early and growth stages of business.
