The University of Nairobi has held discussions with a delegation from Instituto Superior Politécnico Ndunduma (ISPN), Angola, on potential areas of academic, technical and institutional collaboration. The meeting, held on Thursday, 13 August 2026, at the Council Chamber, University of Nairobi Tower, formed part of the proposed academic and technical mission to Kenya by ISPN.

The Angolan delegation was led by Prof. Salomé Blara Ghinotila, alongside a representative from the State Department for Higher Education. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Prof John Mande, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Eng. Prof Ayub Gitau.

Discussions centred on opportunities for the two institutions to establish mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Technology and Innovation, as well as other areas of academic and technical interest.

The proposed collaboration could provide opportunities for joint research, knowledge and expertise exchange, capacity building, academic programmes, staff & student mobility and innovation initiatives.

The discussions also highlighted the potential for collaboration in business-related disciplines. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Finance, Planning and Development), Prof Josiah Aduda, outlined possible areas of engagement within the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, including business management, entrepreneurship, innovation and agribusiness.

Prof. Aduda thanked ISPN for taking the initiative to explore collaboration with the University of Nairobi, noting that such engagements provide an opportunity to strengthen academic and institutional linkages between Kenya and Angola.

The meeting marked an important step towards exploring a structured partnership between the two institutions. Further consultations are expected to identify specific areas of collaboration and develop mechanisms for their implementation.

The University of Nairobi remains committed to strengthening international partnerships that promote academic excellence, research, innovation, knowledge exchange and sustainable development.
