The University of Nairobi on May 21, 2026, hosted a delegation from the Evangelical University Institute of Cameroon (IUEC) during a courtesy call on the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance, Planning and Development, Prof. Josiah Aduda.
The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor of IUEC, Prof. Jules-Roger Kuiate and visited the University to reaffirm and strengthen the growing partnership between the two institutions.
The courtesy call follows the signing of a collaborative agreement in October 2025 between the University of Nairobi, through the Faculty of Health Sciences’ Department of Public and Global Health (DPGH) and the Evangelical University Institute of Cameroon. The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to cement the agreement and discuss practical pathways for its implementation.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Aduda underscored the University of Nairobi’s commitment to fostering strategic international partnerships that advance research, teaching, innovation and capacity building. "Collaborations among African universities are essential in addressing common health, education and development challenges while promoting knowledge exchange across the continent,” he noted.
Prof. Kuiate expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to the delegation and reaffirmed IUEC’s commitment to the partnership. “Collaborative initiatives in higher education are very important, particularly in the areas of public and global health, research, staff development and student mobility,” he emphasized.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions, with particular attention to joint research projects, academic exchanges, capacity development and other areas of mutual interest under the existing agreement. Both parties acknowledged the significant role of university partnerships in generating innovative solutions to regional and global challenges.
The University of Nairobi’s Faculty of Health Sciences, through the Department of Public and Global Health, has been at the forefront of cultivating international collaborations that enhance academic excellence, research impact and community engagement. The partnership with IUEC is expected to create opportunities for joint scholarship, knowledge sharing and improved health outcomes across the region.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration and ensure the successful implementation of the partnership for the benefit of students, staff, researchers and the broader society.
