Today, Friday, 28 August 2026, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance, Planning and Development, Prof. Josiah Aduda, represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayub Gitau, at the installation ceremony of Prof. John Okumu as the 7th  Vice Chancellor of Kenyatta University.

The ceremony, held at the Graduation Square, Kenyatta University Main Campus, was presided over by the University Chancellor, Prof. Ambassador Dr. Francis K. Muthaura, MBS, EGH, alongside the Council Chair, Prof. Clara Momanyi.

During the ceremony, Prof. John Okumu was formally adorned in the Vice Chancellor’s regalia, symbolising his assumption of the leadership and responsibilities of the office, and was presented with the Instruments of Power.

The outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Paul Wainaina, officially handed over the Instruments of Power to Prof. Okumu, marking the formal transition of leadership and the assumption of office by the new Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Aduda also had an opportunity to personally congratulate Prof. Okumu and conveyed his best wishes as he begins his tenure, expressing confidence in his leadership and wishing him success in his new role.
