On July 3, 2026, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance, Planning and Development, Prof. Josiah Aduda, paid a courtesy call to the University's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department as part of his ongoing familiarisation visits to units under his division.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor to engage directly with members of staff through one-on-one interactions, enabling him to gain a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities, appreciate the department's contributions to the University and learn about the challenges they encounter in the execution of their duties.
During the interactive session, Prof. Aduda underscored the critical role the ICT Department plays in supporting the University's core functions of teaching, learning, research, administration and service delivery. He noted that regular engagement with staff is essential in fostering a collaborative work environment, identifying areas for improvement and developing practical solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor encouraged the staff to continue working together as a team, emphasizing that collaboration, professionalism and dedication are key to achieving the division's strategic objectives. “Every member of the department must remain committed to delivering their responsibilities diligently while embracing innovation and continuous improvement in service delivery,” urged Prof Aduda.
Prof. Aduda also stressed the importance of prudent financial management across the division. He called upon staff to minimize wastage and ensure that the University's available resources are utilized efficiently, effectively and responsibly to maximize value and support institutional priorities.
The ICT staff welcomed the engagement, highlighting it as a valuable opportunity to share their experiences, discuss operational challenges and exchange ideas on strengthening the department's capacity to support the University's digital transformation agenda.
The courtesy call forms part of Prof. Aduda's commitment to fostering open communication, strengthening teamwork and enhancing operational excellence across all departments under the Finance, Planning and Development Division. Through such engagements, the division aims to build stronger working relationships, promote accountability and create an enabling environment that supports efficient service delivery and the University's long-term strategic goals.
