The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) for Finance, Planning and Development, Prof. Josiah Aduda, conducted a familiarisation tour of the University Health Services (UHS) on July 1, 2026. This was part of his ongoing engagements with departments under his division aimed at enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency.
The visit provided Prof. Aduda with an opportunity to interact with staff, gain a deeper understanding of the department's operations, and assess the healthcare services offered to the University community. He was accompanied by the Director of UHS, the Director of Finance and the Director of Facility Management.
During the tour, the delegation visited various sections of the health facility, where staff briefed them on the range of medical services provided, ongoing programmes, achievements and the operational challenges affecting service delivery. The discussions also focused on opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen healthcare systems and enhance the patient experience for students, staff and other members of the University community.
Addressing the staff, Prof. Aduda commended the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by the University Health Services team in delivering quality healthcare despite the challenges they encounter. “The department plays a critical role in supporting the University's core mandate by promoting the health and well-being of students and staff,” he acknowledged.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the University's commitment to supporting the department through prudent resource allocation, improved infrastructure and strategic planning aimed at enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services. He noted that regular engagement with departments is essential in identifying priority areas for investment and developing sustainable solutions to operational challenges.
The tour also included an inspection of the health facilities to assess their current condition and identify areas requiring improvement. The exercise provided valuable insights that will inform future planning and resource mobilisation efforts geared towards modernising healthcare infrastructure and strengthening service delivery.
The familiarisation visit is part of Prof. Aduda's broader programme of departmental engagements across the Finance, Planning and Development Division. The initiative seeks to foster closer collaboration with staff, promote informed decision-making and strengthen institutional support services through continuous consultation, effective planning and collaborative problem-solving.
