The Department of Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance was established in 1983. The DVCAF office was to cater for Staff administration, Human Resource and Finance of the Institution. There have been 10 staff members that have held the position of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance. 

However, in 2018 the University, through the statutes that guide the University underwent rigorous changes and the Department of DVCAF was divided into two such that  the roles of Administration and Human Resource were under the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Human Resource and Administration and the roles of Finance Management of the Institution fell under the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance Planning and Development. 

Currenntly the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, FPD is held by Prof. Margaret J. Hutchinson in an acting capacity. She is the first woman to hold the office since its inception in 1983. 

In the last 10 years, the University has  been undergoing transformation and has digitized most of its systems. There has been the launch of the

EPMIS- Procurement system,

IFMIS- Finance Management System,

AIE- Advance management system,

Document tracking system,

UHS  claim form

PCMIS- Performance Contract System 

just to mention the few that fall under the DVCFPD jurisdiction.
