The Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) paid a courtesy call on the University of Nairobi on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, ahead of the commencement of the institution's audit process.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eng. Ayub N. Gitau, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance, Planning and Development, Prof. Josiah Aduda, welcomed the OAG delegation and reaffirmed the University's commitment to accountability, transparency, and sound financial management.

The meeting brought together Heads of Departments from the University's Central Units, who will support the audit by providing the necessary documentation and facilitating the audit process.

Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Aduda underscored the University's commitment to upholding good governance and maintaining robust financial and administrative systems. “The audit process provides an important opportunity for the institution to strengthen its internal controls, enhance operational efficiency and reinforce public confidence,” he noted.

The Office of the Auditor-General team outlined the scope and expectations for the upcoming audit, emphasising the importance of timely cooperation and the availability of relevant records to ensure a smooth and efficient exercise.

The engagement provided an opportunity for both teams to align expectations, clarify the audit process and reaffirm their shared commitment to accountability, compliance and prudent stewardship of public resources.
